Abstract

Human beings are always in search of different types of foods since last thousands of years. During those times due to natural livings, fresh air and water they might have to face less health issues. Things have changed now, with the challenges like Pandemic COVID-19. Nutrition will have to play an important role, in immunity enhancement & overall maintenance of health. Nutrition includes processes like, ingestion, digestion, absorption, metabolism & excretion, involved in taking in & use of food & food supplements.. Health is more than the absence of disease. It is a state of a physical mental & spiritual stability. In nutrition, diet is the sum of food consumed by a person. The word diet often implies the use of specific intake of nutrition for health.

Pulses like beans, peas and lentils have been consumed for at least 10?000 years & are among the most extensively used foods in the world. A wide variety of pulses can be important from the point of both economical as well as nutritional aspects. Pulses provide protein & fiber, as well as a significant source of vitamins & minerals, such as iron, zinc, folate &  magnesium. Consuming 50 gms of beans or peas per day can enhance diet quality. In addition, the phytochemicals, saponins & tannins found in pulses possess antioxidant & anti-carcinogenic effects. Pulse consumption also improves serum lipid profiles & positively affects several other cardiovascular disease risk factors, such as blood pressure, platelet activity & inflammation. Pulses are high in fiber & have a low glycemic index, making them particularly beneficial to people with diabetes by assisting in maintaining healthy blood glucose and insulin levels.

Thus, proper Nutritious diet(Food) coupled with exercises/Yoga will lead to a good public Health.
